In 2000-2001, I took a course in English composition. Why? Just for the fun of it and to improve my writing. Wasn't I a good writer before? Well, my writing has always been okay. English was one of my favourite courses in high school. But once I started university, I did not have the time to take English along with the mathematics, economics, physics, chemistry, psychology, computer science, and statistics courses that I was taking. I've always regretted missing out on the courses in literature: plays, poetry, short stories, and novels. Now I am making up for lost time.
Along with essays from Jane Flick's English 304 course, these web pages contain essays for courses at U.B.C. by Roberta Birks, Ina Biermann, Marlene Briggs, Joel Martineau, Peter Dickinson, Stephen Partridge, and Lorraine Weir.
